Visible Mending | Avery Rose

During their 3 years working and living at Elsewhere, Avery completed many repairs floor-to-ceiling and everywhere in-between. Inspired by the imperfections and flaws prevalent in the 100+ year old building that boasts a lack of 90 degree angles, Avery views this work as a collaboration with time. By intentionally creating striking yet functional solutions to common problems, their repairs draw attention to themselves, highlighting the wear and tear accumulated over decades of use.

Elsewhere’s floors are notoriously perilous. Into a series of mysterious cavities in the wood of the first floor, Avery placed the tiniest bits of collection material they could find and permanently encased them in resin, creating tiny compositions underfoot.
