Untitled (Documentary) | Sosena Solomon

Sosena Solomon (Philadelphia, PA)

Philadelphia Goes Elsewhere Fellowship. June 2019. HD video projection and sound. 5 min 32 secs.

Solomon worked directly with African immigrants based in Greensboro, NC to create a documentary installation in the 2nd floor Glass Forest. The artist worked with the North Carolina African Services Coalition (NCASC) to reach out and document the stories of African women that have resettled in the area. Her video specifically captures the story of a human trafficking survivor from West Africa. Solomon also embeds gold leaf, pigment, and found hair on the walls and ceiling of the room to reference the impact of the African gold trade on today’s diaspora refugees.
