Fish & Chips | Mike Nourse

“I did do a series of pieces "Fish and Chips" featuring fallen wallpaper chips mixed with fish I had taken from books I found in the library. If I remember correctly there was one large piece and a few smaller ones installed on 2nd floor. […] I took all the remnants of fish and clippings and made an interactive analog book thing as well, that I had left in the lower level bathroom, with a container to house them all. […] Actually the fish and chips pieces were what I was really interested in for the first week, I had fun making those while learning about Elsewhere history. It was only after being there doing this work and meeting people all around the area that I eventually wanted to map out what I had encountered - also felt that Elsewhere could use something to spell out the ecosystem of people, places, and partners. Emily and George were real helpful in talking through my ideas and connecting me to more people once I decided I wanted to do the map work.”

During Mike’s residency, he made untitled (Chalk Mind Map) and Fish & Chips.
