The baby-war room was a disturbing attic room wherein Sylvia Gray had kept only toys, hundreds if not thousands of them, before it had been turned into a museum. This room was so disturbing for most people when Kim Holleman built the Toynado that people would not go in, and it had remained as it was until the artist transformed the room. Holleman says that this work, more than any other she has created,  seemed driven by forces beyond herself. On the night of Toynado’s unveiling, two tornados touched down in Greensboro just before the opening.

In 2014, Jasper Lee & Leah Hamby gave Toynado a deep clean and new cinematic frame as their residency project, titled The Wind in the Wood (Take me Back to Carolina).
